My singing voice
Lesson details
Learning outcome
I can use my singing voice and sing songs with my friends.
Key learning points
- We warm up before singing so that our bodies, minds and voices are ready to sing.
- We can use our voices to chant and sing together.
- We can sing together or sing on our own.
- We know when it is our turn to sing.
Keywords
Chant - speaking in time to a pulse
Song - music with words
Singing voice - create musical sounds with our voice that can be a mixture of high sounds and low sounds music with words
Speaking voice - the voice we use when we talk to each other
Common misconception
Singing louder means the children are more engaged and singing better.
For children to develop sound intonation and accuracy, they need to sing gently and not be encouraged to always sing loudly.
Teacher tip
When we ask the children to sing louder, they will stop listening and lose some vocal control and the pitch matching will be less accurate.
