My brilliant body: performing
Lesson details
Learning outcome
I can perform a mirroring duet with a partner.
Key learning points
- Move: performing a mirroring motif as a duet requires accurate timing and recall.
- Think: creating and recalling a motif requires imagination and memory.
- Feel: showing our work to others requires self-belief.
- Connect: watching attentively and waiting patiently requires fairness.
Keywords
Duet - a performance by two people
Perform - showing work to others (the audience)
Motif - a pattern of actions that can be repeated and developed
Common misconception
A performance needs to be on a stage, at a theatre.
Performing is where we show our work to another, it might be on a stage, but equally it can be a part of the lesson where we share ideas, thoughts and opinions so that we can all improve.
Teacher tip
If pupils become daunted by the word 'performance', substitute 'sharing your work' or 'showing your work'. Also consider returning to performing solely to the other duet for the final performance.
