Lesson details

Key learning points

  1. Move: combining actions, pathways and speeds requires coordination and control.
  2. Think: imagination helps us to create and recall actions based on the theme of journeys.
  3. Feel: striving to improve your performance and believing in yourself shows courage and leads to success.
  4. Connect: sharing ideas and listening to a partner shows empathy and improves the quality of the performance.

Keywords

  • Starting position - the shape and place at the beginning of a performance

  • Finishing position - the shape and place of the end of a performance

  • Rehearse - to practise in preparation for a performance

Common misconception

A performance should be to the whole class.

Performing can be to another person, duet or group. This can feel less daunting and is a good way to get feedback.
