Journeys: performing
Lesson details
Learning outcome
I can work with a partner, combining actions, pathways and speeds to create, recall and perform a duet.
Key learning points
- Move: combining actions, pathways and speeds requires coordination and control.
- Think: imagination helps us to create and recall actions based on the theme of journeys.
- Feel: striving to improve your performance and believing in yourself shows courage and leads to success.
- Connect: sharing ideas and listening to a partner shows empathy and improves the quality of the performance.
Keywords
Starting position - the shape and place at the beginning of a performance
Finishing position - the shape and place of the end of a performance
Rehearse - to practise in preparation for a performance
Common misconception
A performance should be to the whole class.
Performing can be to another person, duet or group. This can feel less daunting and is a good way to get feedback.
Teacher tip
Calling a performance 'sharing your work' can reduce the formality and support confidence building.
