Lesson details

Key learning points

  1. Move: travelling requires coordination, balance and stamina.
  2. Move: stillness requires balance and control.
  3. Think: using imagination means we can represent non-human forms.
  4. Feel: self-belief allows us to make good decisions.
  5. Connect: empathy enables us to consider the needs of our partner.

Keywords

  • Travelling - moving from one place to another

  • Stillness - stopping or pausing so there is no movement

  • Following - moving in the same direction or copying

Common misconception

Representing the journey of a train or bus must include mimed actions such as pretending to turn a steering wheel.

Whilst pupils may wish to include such gestures, our focus is on the journey rather than the mode of transport so there is not a requirement to include the use of mime.

Have a surplus of floor markers on the floor to minimise the risk of dispute or collisions. If you have a selection of colours you could guide groups of pupils to only travel to certain colors, e.g. the red team can only use the red floor markers.
