Playing together to make our heartbeat and breathing faster

      Lesson details

      Learning outcome

I can challenge myself and can work with others to have fun when exercising.

      Key learning points

      1. Move: moving throughout the circuit activities will increase my heartbeat and breathing.
      2. Think: keeping moving and working hard, supports our body and mind, helping us to complete the challenges successfully.
      3. Feel: striving to improve your performance and believing in yourself shows courage and will lead to success.
      4. Connect: working with others enables success as well as enjoyment and engagement when exercising.

      Keywords

      • Challenge - a test of ability or skill

      • Circuit - a series of physical activities or exercises

      • Together - in cooperation; with others to undertake a task together

      Common misconception

Pupils may think that success is only achieved by winning and being the best.

Success can be achieved in lots of different ways. You can be successful by improving your own performance (regardless of anyone else's performance), setting yourself a challenge and reaching a new target or working in cooperation with others.

      Teacher tip

This lesson provides lots of opportunities to celebrate success regardless of physical ability. This is best achieved by keeping the focus on celebrating successful completion of a goal or challenge, rather than comparing which pupil achieved the highest score.
