Lesson details

Key learning points

  1. Move: using the correct technique for a variety of jumps will enable us to score points in games.
  2. Think: understanding the correct technique for a variety of jumps increases performance in games.
  3. Feel: striving to improve our technique for jumping, hopping and skipping will lead to success in games.
  4. Connect: collaborating in teams and showing empathy can improve our team's performance.

Keywords

  • Space - an open area where it is safe to move where there are no defenders

  • Competing - playing against another player or another team

  • Rules - inform what we are allowed and what we are not allowed to do in a game or challenge

Common misconception

Pupils run instead of skipping to avoid being caught. Pupils don't follow the rules and take more than one piece of equipment at a time.

Remind pupils that running is a rule break and celebrate pupils who are hopping/skipping not running. Explain that this is a rule break and build in a consequence for this happening.
