Lesson details

Key learning points

  1. Move: varying the dynamics of actions and combining them when performing requires control.
  2. Think: selecting words and using them to devise a simple story demonstrates decision making.
  3. Feel: responsibility is needed when using strong and fast dynamics in a group.
  4. Connect: successfully applying a range of dynamics and choreographing a sequence requires collaboration.

Keywords

  • Dynamics - the speed or force of an action

  • Speed - the rate or pace of an action

  • Force - the degree of effort in an action

Common misconception

Dynamics involve either speed or force, not both.

Dynamics are a combination of both speed and force. We naturally use them both in every action we do, in dance we can use them to clearly communicate our dance idea, sometimes this requires greater emphasis on one or the other.
