      Sequence completion and peer review

      Lesson details

      Learning outcome

I can develop my sequence as part of a group and evaluate and improve another group's sequence to ensure a quality performance.

      Key learning points

      1. Move: when performing our sequence, it must include accurate timing, flow and consistently high-quality movements.
      2. Think: reflecting on how to further develop a sequence by using creative thinking will lead to a quality performance.
      3. Think: evaluating another group's work and suggesting ways to improve requires understanding quality gymnastics.
      4. Connect: communicating feedback to our group with respect will help the development of the sequence.
      5. Feel: showing a determination to improve our own and others' work by giving accurate feedback demonstrates integrity.

      Keywords

      • Improve - to get better at something

      • Evaluate - to look at something carefully, considering its quality and ways it could be improved

      • Performance - the execution or display of a series of actions

      Common misconception

Pupils think that the longer the sequence is, the better it must be.

Pupils need to understand that quality actions over quantity are essential when creating a sequence. Pupils should also be reminded to follow the sequence pattern/rules.

      Teacher tip

Use tablets to video pupils' work or let them film each other to support the creation of sequences and the initial evaulation.
