Staying active, fit and healthy with others
Lesson details
Learning outcome
I can work with others and encourage my peers whilst we develop our fitness together.
Key learning points
- Move: different movements challenge our bodies in different ways and require different components of fitness.
- Think: making appropriate choices about the type of activity we do can help us to reach our goals.
- Feel: knowing my own strengths and striving to make improvements requires self-motivation.
- Connect: acting as a role model and encouraging others helps everyone to be successful.
Keywords
Challenge - hard to do and an opportunity to learn
Motivation - reason or desire to do something, often driven by curiosity, interest or the promise of rewards
Encourage - to offer support, confidence and belief
Common misconception
Some pupils might think that activities for fitness are always solo tasks that don't encourage social interaction.
Being active with others can have lots of benefits, e.g. increased motivation, encouragement from others, and confidence. All these benefits combined, can encourage individuals to be more active, more often, resulting in increased activity levels.

All the activities included in this lesson guide appear in previous lessons, so pupils should be encouraged to apply their prior experience and knowledge to make appropriate choices about the activities they choose.
