      Learning outcome

I can explain how strength affects the body and I can perform different strength activities for different muscles in the body.

      Key learning points

      1. Move: successfully performing strength activities requires moving each body part with control.
      2. Think: knowing how to complete each activity correctly helps us to keep our body safe.
      3. Feel: strength activities can be challenging and requires determination to do our best.
      4. Connect: strength can come from working together and motivating each other.

      Keywords

      • Strength - how much your muscles can overcome a force without getting tired too quickly e.g. lift, push, pull or carry

      • Muscles - a part of your body made of special tissue that can tighten and relax to help you move

      • Resilient - the ability to keep going, adapt and grow stronger from challenges, both in body and mind

      Common misconception

Being strong is about having big muscles.

Being physically strong relates to how our bodies are able to overcome the forces placed upon them. Strong muscles are essential for humans to complete everyday tasks and also help our joints to work effectively which helps to avoid injury and pain.
