Combine passing, moving and shooting
Lesson details
Learning outcome
I can combine passing, moving and shooting skills to score points against another team.
Key learning points
- Move: shooting accurately requires us to have the correct shooting stance by aiming at the intended target.
- Move: scoring requires accurate passing and moving to get into a suitable shooting position close enough to the target.
- Think: knowing how, when and where to pass and how, when and where to shoot, can result in points scored in games.
- Feel: continuing to try to score even if we aren't successful requires self-motivation to succeed.
- Connect: successful shots on target will occur more frequently when teams collaborate.
Keywords
Target - something you focus on and aim for to try to reach or hit
Shooting - when you aim and try to make a ball go where you want it to go towards a target/goal
Score - to get points in a game and how we keep track of who is winning
Common misconception
Pupils forget to take their time to pass and move and instead panic, rushing their passes and shooting far from the target.
Pupils need to have patience to support each other to pass and move towards the target, and shoot when in a suitable position.
Teacher tip
Progress to a 3v2 straight away in Cycle 2 if pupils are ready for that extra level of challenge.
Equipment
1 ball between 2 , 90+ cones, bibs, 10 goals/targets depending on context
