- Think: good decision making is important when batting to try and outwit the fielders, and score more rounders in a game.
- Feel: practising our batting technique and trying to improve shows we are self-motivated.
- Connect: supporting our teammates in making good decisions shows responsibility and builds trust.
Keywords
Batting - using a bat to try to hit a ball that is thrown or bowled
Intent - striking a ball with a specific objective or strategy in mind
Game - an activity or sport in which people compete with each other according to agreed rules
Common misconception
Pupils try to generate their hitting power using just their arm, which results in them over swinging and missing the ball.
Remind pupils that swining smoothly and keeping their eye on the ball is important. Pupils should bend their knees slightly and use their hips to rotate and generate power.
