Measure your progress
Lesson details
Learning outcome
I can perform appropriate tests and interpret the data to measure my progress.
Key learning points
- Move: clear replication of test protocol is essential to ensure it is a reliable and valid result.
- Think: emotional and physical responses to testing should be more positive in relation to the start of the unit testing.
- Feel: evaluating progress in relation to your previous performance can improve self-esteem and motivation.
- Connect: recognising progress in others, no matter how small, can motivate them to continue with their programme.
Keywords
Benchmarks - a starting measurement used to track improvement over time
Progression - a sign of improvement in performance, fitness or technique
Evaluation - comparing current performance to past results to judge progress
Common misconception
Pupils may compare their progress to other pupils and feel disappointed if others have made a faster rate of progress.
Progress is personal and depends on many things - starting fitness, goals, technique and even how well rested you are on test day. Even small amounts of progress should be celebrated.

The practice tasks are also available as printable worksheets and some lessons have additional materials with extra material you might need for teaching the lesson.
The assessment exit quiz will test your pupils' understanding of the key learning points.
