Keywords
Punt kick - the most common foot passing technique by dropping the ball onto the foot to kick before it hits the ground
Possession - a player or team has control of the ball, allowing them to pass, solo, hand pass or shoot
Tracking - watch, follow and anticipate the movement of the ball as it travels through the air
Common misconception
Kicks may lack the necessary power or accuracy, or they might often miss their target. High catches can be intimidating and pupils may mistime their jump.
Focus on good technique before increasing distance or adding movements to kicks. When performing a high catch, track the ball early and use the jumping technique to meet the ball when it is at its highest point.
