Lesson details
Key learning points
- Move: arms are outstretched and upright stance between ball carrier and goal line when goalkeeping.
- Move: drive forward quickly in a fast break to exploit space before defenders can recover and organise.
- Think: making yourself big and narrowing the angle reduces the shooter's view of goal.
- Feel: staying alert and balanced to react instantly when rebounding relies on quick instincts and timing.
- Connect: fast interplay of the ball results in more handling errors that may cause a dip in team morale.
Keywords
Rebound - when the ball bounces backwards after hitting the goal post or wall
D - the curved line around the goal and only the goalkeeper can go inside it
Break - a quick attack towards goal in an attempt to score before the oppositions defence is set up
Common misconception
Pupils think you should only move slowly with the ball so you don't lose posession.
Moving fast with the ball can create more opportunities to beat defenders, create space and keep the attacking momentum strong.
