Key learning points
- Move: power is generated by taking steps into a jump shot.
- Move: follow through with your throwing arm towards the target improves accuracy to guide the ball's path after release.
- Think: only the goalkeeper can enter the 6 metre area. Attackers are not allowed to stand in this area while shooting.
- Feel: enduring the complexity of shooting on the move requires resilience.
- Connect: working together in defence reduces the potential of open shots on goal.
Keywords
Standing shot - a shooting technique whilst stationary
Bounced shot - shooting on goal with the ball hitting the floor on its way
Jump shot - a shooting technique performed while the players feet are in the air
Common misconception
Pupils think the shooter is allowed in the D to score (like netball).
The only person allowed in the D is the goalkeeper, shooters have to shoot from outside the D, otherwise the goal doesn't count.
