Key learning points
- Move: wicket keepers need to position themselves crouched low and ready to move quickly and catch.

- Think: deep breathing or counting to 10 are methods of controlling emotions and keeping at your best under pressure.
- Feel: joy and sadness are to be expected when winning or losing in a game, but understand it does not define you.
- Connect: when others have won or lost, it is important to show empathy to all involved.
Keywords
Pressure (in sport) - mental and physical stress athletes feel from high expectations or wanting to perform well
Emotion - a feeling you experience in response to different situations, people or events - these can be positive or negative
Regulate - control or manage your emotions during stressful or high pressure situations
Common misconception
When wicket keeping, pupils have a tendency to stand right up to the wickets, no matter how fast the bowler is. This means they can't react quick enough to faster balls.
Pupils should understand that they can adjust the distance between wicket keeper and stumps, depending on the speed of the bowler, so they are catching the ball around thigh height. There is no standard wicket keeper position.
