      Key learning points

      3. Feel: burning off unused, empty calories from sugar can give a sense of achievement.

      Keywords

      • Nutrition - The process of providing or obtaining the food needed for health and growth

      • Macronutrients - the nutrients needed in large amounts by the body, including carbohydrates, proteins and fats

      • Micronutrients - the vitamins and minerals needed by the body in small amounts

      Common misconception

Everyone needs exactly the same nutritional plan.

Different people have different nutritional needs, at different times in life, especially when training for different activities.

      Teacher tip

Print enough of the correct diet plates per pair and a few of the incorrect. Laminate your diet plate sections and use white board pens to write on food examples so you can use them again. Do be sensitive to/aware of specific pupil's dietary needs or any triggers to diet/nutrition they may have.
