Learning outcome
I can play a basic game with correct scoring and rotation of playing positions.
Key learning points
- Move: keep at least one buttock in contact with the floor while striking the ball.
- Move: serve from the back right corner and rotate clockwise when service is won.
- Think: awareness of 3 touches before the ball is returned over the net but the same player can't hit it twice in a row.
- Feel: appreciate the adapted version of playing in a seated position.
- Connect: supporting each other towards a common goal.

Common misconception
Sitting volleyball is only for people with disabilities.
Sitting volleyball is a Paralympic sport, however it is an inclusive and adapted sport that anyone can play regardless of ability. Players have to move quickly around the court using their upper bodies frequently in a seated position.
Teacher tip
Ensure the right choice of volleyball is used. Seated volleyball can also be played using a balloon or larger/softer ball.
