- Feel: working independently around the school site requires responsibility and maturity.
- Connect: keeping others safe by being aware of risks as you move around the school site demonstrates responsibility.
Keywords
Route planning - deciding on what order to visit checkpoints
Responsibility - taking ownership of your role and being accountable for your actions
Independence - the ability to think and act on your own, using your skills and knowledge to find your own solutions
Common misconception
Matching a similar and incorrect photo as a result of rushing.
During photo orienteering, it is important to take your time and look at details carefully.
Teacher tip
Source a pole for each pupil for the warm up. It could be a rounders pole, SAQ pole with spike removed, strong stick, broom handle etc. Aim to take 20 speciifc photos from across the school site that are clearly distinguishable. Mark the 20 locations on your school map as circles (control points)

Pole and map per pupil, triangular traffic cones and dome cones, numbers 1 - 20, 20 numbered photos from across your school site.
