Key learning points

  1. Move: consistently applying the correct technique for all shots, adjusting power and angles accordingly, brings success.
  2. Think: designing a hole and deciding where to place hazards requires careful reflection.
  3. Feel: regular exercise can improve mood and reduce anxiety by releasing endorphins, the body's natural stress relievers.
  4. Connect: respecting our teammates and opponents when playing a round of golf is essential in applying golf etiquette.

Keywords

  • Etiquette - a set of respectful behaviours and customs that players follow to ensure the game is safe, fair and enjoyable

  • Par - the expected number of strokes that a skilled golfer should take to complete a hole

  • Course - a carefully designed stretch of land made up of a series of individual holes

Common misconception

Golf etiquette is just about being polite.

Explain to pupils that golf etiquette is about courtesy, consideration and respect for other players, the course and the game itself.
