- The Gospels tell of the discovery of the empty tomb.
- The Gospel accounts explain encounters recorded between the disciples and Jesus after the resurrection.
- Christian belief in Jesus' resurrection is the core of their belief.
- Christians take different messages from the ressurection accounts
Keywords
Resurrection - being brought back from the dead
Gospels - the stories of Jesus' life and teaching
Sacrifice - surrendering as an offering to God
Common misconception
There is just one account of the resurrection.
The Gospel accounts all recount that Jesus was raised from the dead and appeared to his disciples in slightly different versions.
Teacher tip
You might want to have a physical Bible to show different Gospels. You could create stations in the classroom for each of the 4 Gospels so that pupils could investigate each account and notice similarities and differences. They could report back to each other.
