Prior knowledge requirements
- Pupils should understand from Year 8 how to increase personal safety in public spaces and recognise situations that may present risks to themselves or others in their community.
- Pupils should be familiar with online safety from previous units, recognising that some online content glamorises harmful behaviours.
- Pupils should know from earlier learning how to access support from trusted adults.

Staying safe: what do I need to know about knife crime?
This unit, aligned with the 2025 RSHE guidance, explores knife crime and legislation regarding weapons. Pupils learn about legal consequences, understand how online sources can glamorise and distort the realities of carrying knives, and recognise strategies to stay safe whilst accessing support.
