Lesson details

Key learning points

  1. A balanced diet is critical for foetal development and maternal health during pregnancy.
  2. Regular, safe exercise can improve mood, energy and sleep for pregnant women.
  3. Prenatal care includes regular check-ups for monitoring the health of the mother and foetus.

Keywords

  • Prenatal care - medical and health care provided to a pregnant individual to ensure a healthy pregnancy

Common misconception

During pregnancy, an expectant mother should eat for two.

Expectant mothers need a balanced diet, not double portions. Extra calories are only needed in later stages of pregnancy, and quality matters more than quantity.
