Lesson details

Key learning points

  1. It is important for humans to have good hygiene in order to live a healthy life.
  2. It is important for humans to exercise and eat the right amounts of different types of food.
  3. Scientists share important information by presenting it in different ways.

Keywords

  • Healthy - The health of a living thing is how well or ill it is. A healthy diet keeps a person or animal well.

  • Hygiene - Hygiene means keeping yourself and where you live clean and free from germs.

  • Unhealthy - Something that is unhealthy is not good for your health.

  • Presenting - Presenting information is to show or share it with others.

Common misconception

Being seen as ‘healthy’ or ‘unhealthy’ is linked to personal attributes as well as physical attributes (such as regarding an unhealthy character as lazy or untidy).

Reminders that there are simple measures that a human can take to help them to lead a healthy life, such as having a healthy diet, having good personal hygiene and exercising regularly.

This lesson links in well with the English curriculum and can be tailored to incorporate spoken language or writing objectives. Having the opportunity to present their information to other classes can be a powerful motivator for many pupils.
