Key learning points

  1. The Spanish vowels [a] [e] [i] [o] [u] are pronounced the same no matter where they appear in a word.
  2. The verb 'estar' (to be, being) is for location and temporary states. 'Estoy' means ‘I am’ and 'estás' means ‘you are’.
  3. Adjectives ending in -o change to -a for girls, women and feminine nouns. Those ending in -e and -z don’t change.
  4. 'Estar' can be combined with adjectives to say how you and others are feeling.
