Key learning points

  1. When approaching read aloud tasks, take time to identify and mentally rehearse key sounds first.
  2. When translating from Spanish to English, read the Spanish sentences carefully before translating.

  • Read aloud - task in which the student reads aloud a text in Spanish

  • Translation, translating - task in which the student translates a sample of text from Spanish to English or English to Spanish

Common misconception

I don't need to have a strategy when tackling a translation.

It is important to read Spanish sentences carefully before translating them into English. Identifying the tense in each sentence, for example, can really help to improve accuracy.
