﻿Hello, my name is Helen and I'm your teacher. Today's lesson is lesson three of four in the measurement unit building understanding. Today, we're going to be looking at comparing and matching objects based on their size. For today's lesson, you will need some big and small objects that you can find around your house, and some big and small dolls, teddies, or figures. So now you know who I am and you've got your resources, let's find out what we're going to do during today's lesson. I'm going to show you how to match big or small objects. Then you will have a go at matching big or small objects. Finally, you will have a test to do where you need to spot my errors. I've got a big teddy and a small teddy, and a big cup and a small cup. Which cup should this teddy bear have? That's right. Well done. I've got a big robot and a small robot, and a big banana and a small banana. Which banana should this robot have? The small one, well done. I've got a big bird and a small bird, and a big cage and a small cage. Which bird cage should this bird live in? Well done, the small one. Which cup should this teddy bear have? That's right, the small one. Which banana should this robot have? That's right, the biggest one. Which birdcage should this bird living? Excellent. I've got two teddies. I've got a big teddy and a small teddy, and I'm going to give them some of these objects that are different sizes and make sure that I give the correct size object to the correct size teddy. Okay, so I'm going to look at these two bricks that I've got. I've got a big brick and a small brick. Which brick should I give to this teddy? The big brick or the small brick? That's right, the big brick, well done. Who should I give this small brick to? Excellent, this small teddy, fantastic. I've got some bubbles. I've got a big pots of bubbles and a small pot of bubbles. Which pot of bubbles should I give to this teddy? The small pot of bubbles or the big pots of bubbles? Fantastic, the small pot. Should I get this pot of bubbles to? Great, the big teddy. Well done. I've got a big rock and a small rock. Which rock should I give to this teddy, the big rock or the small rock? Excellent, the small rock. Who should I give this rock to? Well done, the big teddy. I've got two crayons. I've got a big crayon and a small crayon. Which crayon should I give to this teddy? The small crayon or the big crayon? Well done, the big crayon. And who should I give this one to? Excellent, the small teddy. And I've got two pom-poms. If you look very carefully, they're different sizes. I've got a big pom-pom on a small pom-pom. Which pom-pom should I give to this teddy? The big one or the small one? Excellent, the small one, fantastic. Who should I get this pom-pom to? Brilliant, the big teddy. Fantastic. Now it's your turn to compare and match objects. Place one big and one small character in front of you and compare them. Next, place one big and one small object in front of you and compare them. Can you match the and small objects to the correct characters, and then repeat with different objects? Pause the video to complete your task. And when you're finished click to resume. Let's see if you can spot my errors. Have I matched the cows to the correct barns. I have, well done. Have I matched the sheep to the correct barns? I haven't. That's better. Have I matched the pigs to the correct barns? I haven't. But I have now. Have I matched the horses to the correct barns? I have. Well done, you've done really well today. You've compared and matched objects based on their size. If you'd like to make today's work easier, you could try using objects that are very different in size. Or you could use objects that will fit together when correct, for example, boxes and their lids. If you want to make it harder, you could use two objects that are similar in size. Or you could compare more than two objects of different sizes and see if you can put them in order. For more ideas of how to compare and match objects based on their size, you could perform a role play or puppet show to show matching big and small objects to different characters. Or you could put clean laundry away, matching big and small clothes to adults' or children's bedrooms. Wow, what a fantastic lesson you've had.
