Spoken language masters: refining public speaking skills

Description

In this unit, pupils develop their confldence in delivering speeches. They first focus on finding a topic for a presentation, before building confidence and stronger vocal techniques. They finally deliver their presentations.

This unit uses and builds on pupils' knowledge of speech writing from the unit 'The language of change'. Here, pupils focus more intensely on developing their own voices and build thier confidence and presence as a compelling public speaker. After completing speech writing in 'The language of change', pupils now focus on speech delivery. This unit concludes pupils' 11 year spoken language journey across primary and secondary by giving them the confidence and voice to speak their mind fluently in a variety of future-life situations.
