  • Move: application of tactics, strategies and compositional ideas
  • Think: evaluation, analysis and reflection

Description

This unit will provide pupils with the opportunity to show commitment to developing their badminton skills further in both singles and doubles play. Pupils will also refine their skills at officiating, analysing performance and organising a fair competition.

Pupils will already have developed their hand-eye coordination and racket skills in badminton with a focus on problem solving to win points and increasing proficiency with serves, clears and smashes. Pupils will have been introduced to analysing performance in racket sports to identify strengths and weaknesses. Later in net and wall games they will transfer ideas and learn new techniques in tennis and table tennis.

  1. Recall of basic skills and rules
  2. Drop shots and net play
  3. Smash and defence
  4. Advanced footwork and movement
  5. Doubles strategy and communication
  6. Ladder competition

  • Pupils know the importance of composure and balance before serving and moving back to the middle of the court between every shot.
  • Pupils understand how to vary their court placement in doubles to attack and defend.
  • Pupils are able to hit a distinctly different overhead clear and overhead smash by always being sideways on but varying the amount of wrist snap and follow through direction.
  • Pupils show an ability to work well with others to self-officiate games of singles and doubles fairly.
