Buddhism: Practices

Description

In this unit pupils will examine practices in Buddhism such as puja and meditation. They will understand the considerable diversity of these practices among Buddhist adherents. Following that they wil look at the role of precepts and how these look different in Therevada and Mahayna Buddhism.

The unit on practices is placed after beliefs in order for pupils to make sense of practices, such as meditation, once they have understand ideas of suffering, craving and impermanence. From this they can look at the diveristy of practices in Buddhism and make links to the beliefs they have studied.
