Tchoukball and basic rules
I can explain the basic rules to Tchoukball.
Lesson details
Key learning points
- Move: releasing the ball high, ideally from a running jump, increases the power in our shots.
- Move: aiming at the middle/top of the net, increases the chance of scoring.
- Think: the rule of three means you have 3 seconds with the ball, 3 passes and 3 steps before needing to pass or shoot.
- Feel: it is illegal to intercept a pass or block a rebound, so everyone feels included.
- Connect: respect is shown between all players as a higher priority to winning.
Keywords
Rebound frame - the 2 rebound frames are similar to small trampolines and placed at either end of the court
Three step rule - players are allowed to take up to 3 steps while holding the ball. This rule encourages quick passing and movement
Three pass rule - a team can make a maximum of 3 passes before they must shoot at the rebound frame. This ensures that the game remains fast paced and prevents prolonged possession by one team
Common misconception
Pupils attack one end of the court similar to all other invasion games focused on territory and seek to tackle/intercept passes between the opposition.
Tchoukball is a unique game where both teams can score at both ends by throwing the ball into the rebound net and not being caught by the opposition. You are not allowed to tackle with the opposition while they are in possession of the ball.
