Lesson details

Key learning points

  1. Architects use sustainable materials, energy-efficient designs, and green spaces to help the environment.
  2. Different drawing techniques help to create textures
  3. Eco-friendly buildings incorporate sustainable features such as solar panels, green roofs, or recycled materials.

Keywords

  • Sustainable - capable of continuing or of being kept up over time

  • Eco-friendly - designed to have little or no damaging effect on the environment

  • Texture - the feel or appearance of a surface

  • Natural material - something that comes from nature and has not been made by humans

Common misconception

Students may think that all buildings are the same and don’t understand why some materials are better for the environment.

Some buildings waste energy, while others are designed to protect nature.
