Why this why now

This unit predominantly revisits known vocabulary and grammar in the context of people and their jobs. Pupils expand their practise of asking and answering questions as 'est-ce que' is introduced. Pupils also expand their accuracy in describing jobs using être and profession without an article. Feminine noun and adjective formation rules are extended as pupils use these more readily and accurately in reading and responding to texts, and in a class survey on future jobs.

Prior knowledge requirements

  • Pupils know the verb être in the present tense in all persons.
  • Pupils know the verb avoir in the present tense in all persons.
  • Pupils know how to form questions using intonation and inversion.
  • Pupils know that adjectives change in the feminine form to agree with the noun.
  • Pupils know that nouns often change in the feminine form.
