Key learning points

  1. Combining the perfect tense and the present tense is a useful way to contrast past and present activities.
  2. When translating, it's important to pay attention to the gender and number of nouns and alter endings accordingly.
  3. In conversation, it is useful to combine tenses when giving an answer to develop the conversation.

Keywords

  • Perfect tense - a verb tense that describes completed actions in the past, e.g. 'I said', 'she played'

Common misconception

I can only answer conversation questions in the same tense as the question.

After responding appropriately to the initial question, it is a good idea to use different tenses in your answer to develop your response and to give interesting detail.
