Why this why now

In this unit, pupils revise previous grammar and vocabulary knowledge in the contexts of the life of a Francophone teenager, a cultural visit to Cannes, and the history of Quebec. As pupils' knowledge has progressed, this unit draws together past and present tenses, including reflexive verbs. Pupils also revisit different categories of articles, pronouns, and rules for noun formation. They practise applying more complex language with greater confidence and fluency, whilst further developing their Francophone cultural knowledge.

Prior knowledge requirements

  • Pupils know how to use a range of regular and irregular verbs in the present tense.
  • Pupils know to form a range of regular and irregular past participles.
  • Pupils know how to use reflexive pronouns.
  • Pupils know how to form feminine and plural nouns.
  • Pupils know when to use the perfect and when to use the imperfect tense.
  • Pupils can use articles (definite, indefinite, and partitive) accurately.
  • Pupils know how to use direct, indirect object, emphatic and relative pronouns.
