      Why this why now

This unit allows pupils to apply their vocabulary and grammar knowledge in order to learn about the lives of famous French speakers and to enjoy a cultural exploration of Brussels. Negation and adjectival agreement and positioning are revisited along with word pattern rules, as pupils build greater confidence in applying these rules more accurately.

      Prior knowledge requirements

      • Pupils know how to negate sentences using a range of negative structures.
      • Pupils know that adjectives agree according to gender and number.
      • Pupils know that many adjectives come after the noun but that some categories of adjectives precede the noun.
      • Pupils can recognise a range of demonstrative, interrogative and indefinite adjectives.
      • Pupils know how to form the formal and informal forms of the imperative.
      • Pupils can recognise the use of present participles.
      • Pupils know a number of word pattern rules and can recognise and apply these to their use of the language.
