Key learning points

  1. Ordinal numbers are created by (removing -e and) adding -ième to a number: 'deuxième', 'onzième'.
  2. in- or im- can be added to adjectives, adverbs or nouns to give the opposite meaning. English equivalent is un- or in-.
  3. -ion or -ation can be added to the verb stem to form a noun where the English equivalent is -ion or -ation.
  4. Agent nouns can be created by adding -eur or -ateur to the verb stem, e.g. 'consommer' - 'consommateur'.

Keywords

  • Ordinal number - a number defining the position of something in a series, such as 'first', 'second', or 'third'

  • Role-play - a task with a situation and prompts to ask and answer questions, simulating a conversation

Common misconception

It is better to give long answers in the role-play task than short responses.

The role-play task is a short exercise requiring relevant answers to each bullet point that contain a verb. Longer answers are not appropriate to this task.
