Fieldwork: how can we investigate the sustainability of our school?
Downloads can take a few minutes, especially for larger files or slower connections.
Why this why now
Pupils will already have learned about sustainability and the need to conserve natural resources in earlier Year 5 units. This prior knowledge provides a foundation for considering the sustainability of their own school. Fieldwork is an essential part of geographical enquiry, and while pupils have undertaken fieldwork in previous units, this is a good stage to explore the fieldwork enquiry process in greater depth.
Prior knowledge requirements
- An understanding of the term sustainability.
- Knowledge and experience of using maps and aerial images.
