This unit naturally builds on pupils prior knowledge gained from studying weather hazards in the previous unit. Climate change underpins many of the issues considered in subsequent units, such as global economic development, energy resources and urban planning.

- Pupils can describe and infer trends using maps, diagrams and graphs
- Pupils can describe and infer trends using photos, including satellite images

Climate change
This unit teaches pupils about the evidence, causes and impacts of climate change. Pupils learn that climate change is not just a recent trend but that it has occurred natuarlly over geological time. Pupils will also learn about the strategic options associated with mitigation and adaptation.
