One less - The previous number in the count is one less than the next number and there will be one fewer object in the set.
Common misconception
You can compare numbers that are more than one apart and say which numbers are one more or one less.
Make it clear whether pupils are comparing numbers or whether they are giving the values that are one more and one less.
