Common misconception
Children may misrepresent a given problem meaning they are led to calculate the solution incorrectly.
Children may identify the solution quickly when working with smaller numbers, but it is still important they are encouraged to visualise and represent each problem so that they know how to reveal the structure of the maths in more complex problems.
