I can define what success can look like in a range of competitions.

Lesson details

Key learning points

  1. Move: swinging your arms will increase the distance your object is thrown.
  2. Move: the point of release will determine how high and how far your object travels toward your target.
  3. Think: establishing the aim and rules of a new activity inform tactical decisions in competition.
  4. Feel: working toward, achieving and celebrating a personal best builds confidence and self-esteem.
  5. Connect: shifting the focus away from the outcome of a competition builds stronger relationships between participants.

Common misconception

Winning is the only metric of success and losing is always bad.

You can make improvements to your own/your team's performance in many different ways, regardless of the outcome of a competition.
