Lesson details

Key learning points

  1. Move: restoring energy levels with effective rest and recovery enables us to participate with maximum effort.
  2. Think: knowing that sleep is vital for recovery, repairing muscles and restoring energy, boosts training performance.
  3. Feel: when you are well-rested, your body feels more energised, focused and resilient during training.
  4. Connect: providing tips and encouragement for better sleep helps peers to motivate each other.

Keywords

  • Recovery - the process of getting better after physical or mental exertion

  • Rest - taking breaks to help the body and mind recover

  • Muscle repair - the process by which muscles heal and grow stronger

Common misconception

Training a lot more will automatically improve your fitness.

Without adequate rest within a training programme, the individual will have a higher chance of injury, decreased performance and chronic fatigue.
