Key learning points
- Move: sprinting back to the midline quickly increases your chances of evading defenders and gaining the point.
- Move: using quick, low-reaching actions with your hand or foot allows you tap the defenders and gain 1 point.
- Think: to score a team must send a player (raider) into the opposing court whilst chanting 'Kabaddi' repeatedly.
- Feel: confidence comes from experience and layering on the rules gradually.
- Connect: defenders rely on each other to tackle the raider and prevent a point being scored after a touch is made.
Keywords
Raider - the player who enters the opponent's half of the court to score points by tagging opponents while chanting "Kabaddi, Kabaddi"
Defender - the players who try to stop the raider from returning to their half by tackling them
Chant - the continuous saying of "Kabaddi, Kabaddi" by the raider while in the opponent's half to demonstrate breath control.
Common misconception
Pupils often forget to chant "Kabaddi Kabaddi" when they are a raider.
Remember chanting "Kabaddi, Kabaddi" is how the raider shows they haven't taken a breath during the raid and if they forget, the raid doesn't count.
