Pupils will already have developed ways to adapt skills, tactics and strategies from various forms of football and contact sports like rugby. This unit provides an opportunity to learn and transfer to other unfamiliar games but also to learn about socio-cultural factors that influence game design. Later in invasion games they will apply more advanced tactics and strategies in rugby and korfball.

Prior knowledge requirements

  • Pupils know the basic principles of invasion games such as basic positioning to score a goal.
  • Pupils understand how to work as a team through effective communication.
  • Pupils are able to pass and kick accurately in a any direction and over different distances.
  • Pupils show ways to create space.
