At this transition stage, pupils must understand how to seek appropriate support for different health concerns, use services confidently, and take responsibility for maintaining their health.
Prior knowledge requirements
- Pupils should understand from Key Stage 3 basic healthcare access including when to see GPs or pharmacists for minor ailments, and that seeking professional advice is responsible.
- Pupils should be familiar with accessing support for specific health concerns from Key Stage 4, including mental health, sexual health and menstrual health from appropriate professionals.
- Pupils should know from earlier learning about healthcare services for young people.
