﻿Hi, I'm really looking forward to our lesson today. I hope you are too. Before we get started, this is just a little reminder. We're here to support any approaches you might already be using and any work you might have already been set. We know that this lesson is going to be going out to so many different children and families. So if you're not sure about anything or have any questions, then please do contact your usual therapy team. Hi, today we're going to think a bit about our homework and how it's best to plan our homework and prioritise our homework so that we get everything we need to do in on time. Okay, today is all about planning our homework, but why do you think we need to plan our homework? Let's have a think. Well, we need to make sure that we get it done on time and in order to do that, we need to be able to prioritise. So we need to say what is more important than something else, okay. But when we plan our homework, it helps us to stay on track and that means we can do things in the right order. We remember all the items that we need so that everything is ready and we need to plan because sometimes we might get more than one piece of homework on a certain day, so then we'll have to decide what comes first. Pause the video now to get the items that you will need for today. I want you to go and get your usual homework planner or your homework diary. Then I want you to get your weekly planner, some paper and a pen or pencil and if you have one, a highlighter. Restart once you're done. For our first activity, I want you to sit with an adult and look at your homework planner. And I want you to look at the following questions. How much homework do you get? When is your homework due? Do you get homework just once a week and it's due the following week? Or do you get it a few times a week? Which parts take a long time and which parts are quick? Do you understand what you've written down? Which of the bits of homework is most important and of the homework that you've gotten, which bits could you do on your own? Pause the video now to go through your homework planner with an adult, restart once you're finished. Next, I want you to make a list of what homework is due and when it's due, okay. Use your weekly planner to see when your homework is due and then you can make a list. So you can either use pictures. So you can see on the right I've got number one that has got letters, which is my spellings. And number two is numbers, which is my numeracy or my maths. And we can write it out and write number one, spelling is due Monday. My maths worksheet is due Wednesday and my history story is also due Wednesday. Pause the video now to do the task. Restart once you're finished. Remember, homework should not make you anxious or worried or upset. Ask for help as soon as you need it. Tell your teacher if you did not understand the homework, but also tell your teacher if the homework was too easy or if it was too hard.
