﻿Hello everybody. My name's Emma and welcome to today's lesson. I'm looking forward to today's session and I hope you are too. I can't wait to get started but before we do, just a quick reminder. We here at OAK are here to support any approaches you might already be using and any work you might have already been sent. We know this lesson is going out to so many different children and families so if you're not sure or have any questions, please do contact your child's school or usual speech and language therapy team. In today's session we're continuing to add to your communication passport. We're focusing on special people who are in your life. So for today's lesson, you'll need some paper and some writing equipment. You'll need some colouring pencils and pens, a camera or pictures of important people that you have in your life and scissors and glue. Before we begin, you'll also need to find a quiet place where you won't be disturbed for the lesson. Turn off any distractions or notifications that you might have running on your device and make sure that you and your adult are seated comfortably. When you're ready, let's begin. Okay. Let's start by doing some talking and thinking about special people in your life. As we know, a communication passport is a really handy way of passing on important information about you to other people. It will help them to get to know you and understand how to best support you. Over the last few lessons we focused on information about you, information about your family and today we're going to be including some information about more special people in your life. So pause the video here to make a list of all the special people who you come into contact with in day-to-day life. These might be teachers, helpers and carers and friends. Once you've got your list, come back to the video and press play to continue. Here's an example of how you might want to lay this information. I've made a table, on the left-hand side I'll have a picture and on the right hand side I'll have a simple explanation of who that person is. For example, this is my teacher Mrs. Willis or this is my carer Zoe. Pause the video here to find some pictures of special people in your life. You might need to spend a bit of time gathering some pictures but once you've got them, stick them into your communication passport and come back to the video and press play to continue with the rest of the lesson. Now you've got your pictures you might want to also think about including some more information about these special people, here I have included some examples. I've thought about what people like, don't like, and when their birthday is. You might want to use this as an example and work from there or you can think of your own ideas for more information to include on special people in your life. Think about what interesting information you want to include in your communication profile. Next time you see these important people, make sure to ask them, get them to help you to complete your profile on special people in your life in your communication passport. When you finish, come back to the video and press pay to continue. Remember, try and make a few copies of your communication passport as we go along. Share these with your school and other carers and important people who help you. Make sure everyone knows where to find your communication passport and remind people to check it regularly for updates. Encourage everyone to use this as a helpful tool to get to know you so that they're better able to start interesting and active conversations with you. Well that brings us to the end of today's lesson, but a really big well done on all the new information you've added to your communication passport. Don't forget to share this with school so that they can see the progress you're making.
