Hi everyone and welcome to another lesson on Christian beliefs.

My name is Miss Day and I will be teaching you today.

And this lesson gives you an opportunity to do some practise.

So what we're going to do is give you lots of quick fire questions and opportunities for you to work on quotations and answers.

This is the last lesson in the Christian beliefs series, so is your chance to try and test yourself and work out what you have learned.

So what you will need for today's lesson is a pen or pencil, some paper and a different coloured pen, this is so that you can Mark your work.

If you don't have any of this, please pause the video now and go to get it.

So in this lesson, we will have lots of quick fire questions for you to test your knowledge really quickly.

We will learn some key quotations and our quotations are really important because if you can actually say what it says in a Holy book, your work will stand out.

And then finally we will link quotations to beliefs, so you will have a go at trying to explain what quotations mean.

So that is the plan for today, use this as an opportunity for you to test yourself and see what you remember.

So firstly, we're going to do lots of quick fire questions.

I would encourage you to write down your answer, then you can mark it when I give you the answer.

So which words refers to the idea of one God but three persons? Five, four, three, two, and one.

The answer is the Trinity.

Well done if you got that, the Trinity refers to the idea of one God, but three persons.

Which town was Jesus born in Nazareth, Jerusalem, Galilee or Bethlehem? Five, four, three, two, and one, the answer is Bethlehem, well done.

Which word means to tack on flesh and shows the Christian belief that Jesus is God in human form? Christmas, the incarnation, the reincarnation, or the crucifixion.

Five, four, three, two, and one.

Is the incarnation.

Why do Christians believe Jesus was crucified? Is it because he had committed several crimes, to take on the punishment for sin, because he was mixed up with someone else or so that he could be God again? Five, four, three, two and one.

To take on the punishment for human sin.

Christians believe that Jesus died to pay the price for their sin to take on their punishment.

What day did the gospel accounts say that Jesus was crucified? Was that Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Monday, Thursday, or Easter Sunday? Five, four, three, two, and one.

It was Good Friday.

The gospel accounts say that on the Friday, Jesus was Crucified, Which is not a belief about what Christians will be judged on? Is it Faith, deeds, Faith and deeds, or how much people like you? Five, four, three, two, and one.

And the answer is that Christians believe they won't be judged on how much people like them.

So some Christians believe that they'll be judged on their faith, some believe that they will be judged on their deeds and others believe there's a mixture of faith and deeds.

Which word expresses the belief that Jesus has worked made God and humans one again? Slightly tougher question.

Is it salvation, atonement, forgiveness or crucifixion? Five, four, three, two, and one the answer is atonement, remember we said that from this word, you can get at one-ment and this is when God and humans become one again.

Which word is the name for the place where souls are purified after death? Is it heaven, Hell, Purgatory or Ascension? Five, four, three, two, and one.

It is of course, purgatory.

This is where some Roman Catholics believe that souls are purified so they can go to heaven.

Which word is the name of the event where the Holy spirit came to Earth? Is it the Ascension, purgatory, the great commission or Pentecost? Five, four, three, two, and one.

It is Pentecost, this is the event at the start of the Book of Acts where the Holy spirit descends to Earth.

Some Christians don't believe in purgatory, is this true or false? Five, four, three, two, and one.

This is true, mostly Roman Catholics believe in purgatory and some other Christians, but a lot of Christians don't believe in purgatory.

Omnipotent means all loving, is this true or false? Five, four, three, two and one.

It is of course, false, only benevolent means all-loving.

Christians believe that Christians could all understand each other at Pentecost, is that true or false? Five, four, three, two and one.

It is true, they believe that a Pentecost when the Holy spirit descended, they could all understand what each other were saying.

They were still speaking in their own languages, but they could understand everyone else.

The incarnation means that Christian should not be afraid of death, is that true or false? Five, four, three, two and one.

That is false, the resurrection means that Christian should not be afraid of death, but the incarnation is when Jesus is born.

So it doesn't really teach Christians anything about death.

Now we are going to move on to look at some key quotations.

As we said at the beginning of this lesson, quotations are a really important part overly because all of these beliefs come from Holy books, so where better to learn about these beliefs from the Holy books themselves.

So we are going to do this in a certain way today.

These are the four key quotations that we are going to look at today, let me read them to you first.

For God so loved the world, these are the four quotations that we are going to learn in detail today.

Let me read them to you first, for God loved the world so much that he gave his only son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die, but have eternal life.

John 3:16, the second one, the word was made flesh and dwelt among us John 1:14.

The third one, he is not here, he has been raised Luke 24:6 and the final one, in the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth.

Genesis 1:1.

So now we're going to text certain parts of those verses away and I want you to have a go and see if you can remember these.

So it might be helpful for you to say them over again a few times now so pause the video and say these over again now.

Well done, so what I would like you to do now is to copy these quotations and fill in the gaps.

So below me, you can see the words that are missing so copy the quotations and fill in the gaps.

It's really important that you copy these out as this as part of your learning to remember them.

So pause the video here and resume when you have done this and we will go through the answers together.

Now that you've finished, let's go through the answers together.

So the answers are besides me and I will read them out for you now, but notice that the word that you have missed is underlined.

So for God loved the world so much that he gave his only son so that everyone who believes in him may not die, but have eternal life, John 3:16.

Secondly, the word was made flesh and dwelt among us John 1:!4.

Thirdly, he is not here, he has been raised Luke 24:6.

And finally in the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth, Genesis 1:1.

Well done on that, now we're going to make it slightly harder.

So now I have increased the challenge, I've taken away more words.

So let's see if you can do this, this is exactly the same idea all I want you to do is pause the video here, copy out the sentences and complete words.

You can pause it here and press resume when you have finished and we will go through the answers together.

Great, now let's go through these together.

So you can get a different coloured pen and mark your answers For God loved the world so much that he give his only son so that everyone who believes in him may not die, but have eternal life.

John 3:16.

The word was made flesh and dwelt among us, John 1:14.

He is not here, he has been raised, Luke 24:6.

And finally in the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth Genesis 1:1.

You might think actually, I need to go through this again.

That's fine, pause the screen here and say these out loud, repeating these over and over again is the best way to remember them.

We are again, going to make this slightly harder, so exactly the same, pause the video here and write these verses adding the words that have been left out.

Hopefully you should feel more and more confident with this now.

So pause and press resume when you're ready to go through the answers.

Now we are ready to run through these answers, For God loved the world so much that he gave his only son so that everyone who believes in him may not die, but have eternal life, John 3:16, the word was made flesh and dwelt among us, John 1:14.

He is not here, he has been raised Luke 24:6.

And finally in the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth Genesis 1:1.

I hope now you're saying this is easy I know these because we're going to make it a little bit trickier.

Well, I would like you to do now is to complete these quotations from memory.

I've given you the first few words of each one but now I would like you to pause the video and complete this from memory Really well done.

Let's go through these one last time.

So you can check your own answers, for God so loved the world, that let me start that again sorry.

For God, loved the world so much that he gave his only son so that everyone who believes in him may not die, but have eternal life.

John 3:16.

The second one, the word was made flesh and dwelt among us.

John 1:14.

He is not here, he has been raised Luke 24:6.

And finally in the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth, Genesis 1:1.

Well done, hopefully now you know, these four verses off by heart, if you're still not sure, spend some more time, just covering it with your hand and trying to say it over and over again, that's the best way to learn quotations.

So now we've got to the final part of today's lesson and this part is all about the meaning of quotations.

It's great to know quotations off by heart, but it's not actually that helpful if you don't know what they mean, because you will use them in the wrong answers and they won't really make sense.

So it's really important that you understand what your quotations mean and how you would explain them.

So that's what we're going to do now.

So here is an example of what I would like you to do, so I've taken the first quotation, for God loved the world so much that he gave his only son so that everyone who believes in him may not die, but have eternal life.

John 3:16, and below it, I have said what it means.

So I've said the quotation shows the Christian belief in the incarnation, that God became flesh in the person of Jesus.

It also shows the belief in heaven for those who believe in Jesus, so I have got two key beliefs of that quotation.

So I want you to do something similar with the other quotations.

I'm going to put the quotation on the screen and give you some sentence starters and questions that I want you to answer.

And then we will go through the questions together.

So you can pause the video to complete this and I want you to complete the explanation below.

So the verse says in the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth Genesis 1:1.

Please finish the following sentences, the quotation links to the belief that God is dot, dot, dot.

It also shows the qualities of being dot, dot, dot, and Christians will therefore worship God because dot, dot, dot.

Press pause now and you can press resume when you are finished.

Let's go through these answers together.

So as we said, your verse was, in the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth Genesis 1:1.

So in another colour pen, you can mark this now, this quotation links to the belief that God is the creator of the universe also shows the qualities of being omnipotent, which means all powerful and transcendent, which might be a new word to some of you.

And that means above and beyond time.

Christians will therefore worship God because they believe he is worthy of praise.

Well done if you've got something similar to that, you don't need to have it word for word, but you can give yourself a mark if you got something similar.

Let's have a go at the next one.

So your verse here is the word was made flesh and dwelt among us, John 1:14.

So I want you to do exactly the same thing here, and finished the following sentences, the quotation links to the belief in dot, dot, dot.

It shows that dot, dot, dot, Christians will therefore trust God because dot, dot, dot.

So you can just press resume once you are finished.

Well done, now let's look at the answers together.

So as we said, the verse was the word became flesh and dwelt among us, John 1:14.

So what does that mean? The quotation links to the belief in the incarnation, it shows that goal took on human form in the form of Jesus.

Christians will therefore trust God because they believe that he understands what it is like to be a human.

Again don't worry if you didn't have the thing word for word, but check if you got something similar.

Let's have a go at the final verse.

So the final verse that we looked at says he is not here, he has been raised Luke 24:6, and here are your sentence starters.

This quotation links to the belief in dot, dot, dot.

It shows that dot, dot, dot Christians will therefore trust God because dot, dot, dot.

So you can pause it here and resume the video when you are finished.

Great, let's look through these answers together.

So the verse was, he is not here, he has been raised Luke 24:6.

So you could have said something like the following, the quotation links to the belief in the resurrection, it shows that Jesus rose from the dead on the third day, Christians will therefore trust God because they believe that he is power over death.

Again, you don't need to have exactly that answer but anything similar is great.

So really well done, now as well as knowing your quotations off by heart, you knew what they mean, and you can explain them, that's really, really important.

So really well done on your effort.

You've done really well in today's lesson and going through all that we have done so far.

I hope you found it useful, I'm not as helped you to feel more confident with the content.

If you would like to share any of your hard work from today, please do ask a parent or character share on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter and tag @OakNational or #LearnwithOak.

Thank you again for joining me today, it's been great to go through some of these key things that we've learned together.

Remember that is how you learn things simply by repeating it, I know it might seem a little bit unusual, but if you want to learn quotations, stand somewhere and just say them over and over again, write them on post it notes, stick them on mirrors or around your house where you might see it.

And that's the best way to get quotations into your head.

So really well done and now I would love it, if you could attempt the summary quiz to see what you have learned.

Thank you so much for joining me today and I hope to see you again soon Have a lovely day.
